Daleela Morad

Elly-award winning, Daleela Morad, has a passion for teaching about the dances, musical rhythms and costuming of the Egyptian people through workshops for 6th grade Egyptian projects, music classes, school assemblies, multi-cultural festivals and other school or community events.

Daleela will take your students on a mystical journey through the ancient land of Egypt, teaching about the Egyptian dances and music that have been passed down from mother to daughter for generations.

As a belly dance artist, Ms. Morad has appeared on television and offers three educational workshops to K-12 schools and adult community organizations.

Daleela has trained and performed in Egypt and won numerous awards for her excellent performances and choreography, including the prestigious Sacramento Elly Award, for her lead role as the gypsy dancer, Esmeralda, ...        > Read morein the Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Ms. Morad is a University of California Regents Scholar who fuses her Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology with her nineteeen years of expertise in Middle Eastern dance. Daleela also has a minor in Music, with a performance emphasis, from the University of California, Davis. She makes regular trips to mystical Egypt to study with renowned masters of folkloric and modern Egyptian dances.

Daleela's how-to, self-help book, Belly Dance Wisdom, was featured on KCRA Channel 3's Common Ground, The Sacramento Bee, Sacramento Magazine, The Davis Aggie, and in several acclaimed dance magazines. A trained professional in both belly dance and Psychology (Masters in Psychology), Daleela shares her empowering dance story and how to connect to a powerful feminine wisdom and a female spirituality sorely lacking in our culture. Program Description

Daleela offers three different educational workshops/performances to K-12 schools and adult community organizations. Daleela and her dance partner, Zahra, (The Morad Sisters) strive to perpetuate the rich culture of the Egyptian people through dance performances at schools, cultural and community events. Their mission is to educate both children and adults about Egyptian culture, and the Egyptian dances that have been passed down from mother to daughter for hundreds of generations.

Artist Background
